Techs,
I'll be open up front - I'm a user! I've read several threads where techs have "gone off on one" about providing SP codes etc to non-techs and, honestly, I can understand why you do.
I am aware that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and so I'm not blindly walking into this. I may get all the info and still chicken out of using the codes. It's my balls on the line ...
I have an MP2510 for which the admin AND super passwords have been changed from default. I have tried all the usual suspects (no user, "password") etc to no avail.
I have gone into SP mode and the copier does have the following codes:
5801-001 All Clear
5801-010 Web Srv/Net App
5801-011 NCS
I realise that the middle one is the preferable option as the other two are "hammers to crack a nut".
If I risk using 010, what is the worst that can happen? If the NVRAM would need swapping out to reset the password, would using 010 leave the machine usable or waiting for someone to do the swapout. I guess I'm saying that if I used the code, would I be able to reenter what was wiped to get back to "normal".
I have printed out the config page (NCS 5.13) so if I did have to use 011, I should be able to recover info (only non-defaults would be our IP addresses I guess).
Thanks in advance,
RicohGuy
