ricoh sp 5210sr with all black copies

    greetings all
AS i still cant work i am mucking with old stuff.
I have a sp5210 sr with all black copies.
    swapped toner cartridge and same.
I pulled the laser unit and cleaned it and same.
WHEN I SCAN SOMETHING it is ok.
I am thinking some charge or bias issue?
    any thoughts

Not familiar with this model but all black usually means no charge. A common problem is something preventing the charge roll from contacting the drum.

I believe 5210's are AIO units and he already swapped that. I believe there is a bulletin/issue with the pins that come out from the side of the machine to come into contact with the AIO. The newer pins were "polished" and the bulletin didn't discuss what may or may not happen if the pins were not replaced. Either way, one may be stuck and not coming out to contact the AIO.

One of the things to look for would be is there any "frame" around the outside of the black? If there is, then the laser is working in the non image area. You can also check "erase" by doing a good sized reduction copy and the areas outside of the copy should have no toner. This would also prove charge is getting to the AIO. If it is all black, then that makes a stronger case for no charge.

This series is notorious for shutter issues as well, but that usually results in a code.

        thanks
and yes it is a single drum/dev unit all in one cartridge.
        I will look for a bad contact/connection.

Clearly print engine problem. HV unit may be bad.
