    Ricoh 3025

    Hi,

I have a Ricoh 3025 I am trying to determine an issue with. At power up I get lights on the NIC and then they go off. I also tried connecting a usb cable and the laptop did not detect the copier. I was wonering if there was something disabled in that area and how I could enable it? Also noticed in the settings in the manual that interface settings are refered to quit often. When I try to follow those menus they are missing as well. All I see is the settings menu and documents. No printer scanner facsimile options?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know these questions may seem elementary but I am just trying to help a friend out in the office and noticed these things to be wrong.

    Thanking you in advance...

Check the device settings in SP 5985-001 and 002. 001 is the setting for the on board NIC, and 002 is for the on board USB. A setting of zero is default, which indicates the device is disabled. Change the value to 1 for what you want to use, and you should be good to go.

Thanks Rorschach. The only problem is I dont know how to get to SP 5985-001-002. I would be happy to learn though No worries if I muck it up...lol. I am technical enough to know it is dangerous to mess around with these menus but will only hold myself at fault if something gets messed up. I appreciate any help with that You can PM me info if it is not good to post in open forum...i sure would understand.

Ok so I was able to enable the onboard NIC and USB. I now see the interface settings option and can select it. I then can see all network options but when I select any of them the LCD just goes dim and nothing happens. I am also missing 3 of the four options that are mentioned quite often in the manuals?? (see pic below). What am I missing? why dont the facsimili printer scanner options show up and what do I have to do to get them working? Is this a software issue or a piece of hardware missing? I know the machine DOES NOT have a HDD.

          I appreciate all the help

This model is crippled to a certain extent without a HD. Get any 40G ATA drive and put it in there, it will format what it needs on its on.
More importantly is that in order to use the print scan option the 256M option MUST be installed.

              Thanks Jomama46,

I will put a HDD in the machine. Can I add 128 to the existing 128 or does it have to be a 256mb module? In order to install this option what do I need? From what i read so far it looks like an SD card is needed? Where can I get the files necessaary or does it even need files or just an sd card?

I appreciate the help everyone. You are all very, very helpful. Feel free to PM me if something should not be public info. I completley understand that scenario.

              Thanks again

Usually, the copiers had two sodimm slots, one for the print/scan/fax sodimm and the other for the 256mb module. You should be able to see them.

With most of these, once you put in the ram and the scan/print dimm, you'll see the options on the screen.

The sd card is generally for firmware updates.

As schooltech says, the SODIMMS are common but one of them has to be prgrammed with the print/scan program. Other than Ricoh I have no suggestions for that. But the 256M is common and not expensive.(Replaces the 128M)

                    Thanks schooltech, Jomama46

Ok well this board has 2 slots and 128mb (ddr-pc2100) in slot one. I am going to install 256mb in slot 2 and see if the options appear. If not I guess I will need to get the SD card and program the machine. I will try to contact Ricoh on that, if there is no other way. Either way I will post back....thanks again

I stand corrected. The program is on an SD card not on an SODIMM.
This from the install section of the service manual.
                      SD Card Slots
C1 Printer/Scanner B767, or Printer Option B846. The printer/scanner option or printer option also requires installation of the 256 MB memory.
C2 PostScript3 B757 or Data Overwrite Security B770. The DOS option can be
moved to the PostScript SD card if both options will be used.
C3 Service slot for firmware version updates, moving applications to other SD
                      cards, and downloading/uploading NVRAM contents.

So you will need a programmed SD card and a 256M SODIMM, this is in addition to the existing 128M SODIMM.
Do you have the keys for the control panel?

Darn! I do NOT have the SD card. Can i use any SD card and download the software needed? As far as keys for the control panel, I am not sure. There is an option for keys in one of the menus if that is what you are referring to?

I dont know of anywhere you can DL the program.
The keys are on the control panel so you can choose which function you want to access, i.e. printer, scanner, fax, copy, etc.
If you dont have any of this stuff, how did you mount the HD. You should be able to buy the whole kit and kaboodle as a kit.
You should be able to buy the whole kit for something over a $1000. It includes the 40G HDD, 256M RAM, SD card and all accessories. I think you are making a mistake trying to piecemeal this together.

Ah, yes, and the SD card sits in the side of the machine for the options.

No, you'll have to get the print/scan kit, as there is no way of just programming the software on the cards that I know of.

I don't think that the machines have been on the market long enough for aftermarket companies having complete print/scan kits, although it never hurts to look. There are some wholesale companies that will sell, cheap, whole machines ready-to-go with print/scan options, and it can be used as a parts box....especially the machines with high mileage.

Well you may be right, I am just trying to get the options to be available. If it is not feasable then I guess I should quit while I am ahead. I am going to install the 256 and see if the menus come up, which I doubt, and if not then I guess they will have to buy the kit. Can you guys pm me with a good place to get the kit?

                              I appreciate it!
