MP 5000B sc 870

Hey guys,

The address book error occurs right at power on and I can't clear it. Machine does not recognize user codes, admin, or supervisor and none of the defualts have been changed. I have tried to do the initializations to the user info, address book, but no good. Machine has no HDD or sd cards. It's just a copier. Does anyone have any ideas besides changing the NVRAM? TIA

As far as I know the MP5000B always has a HDD even if you only use the copy-function. SC870 is an Adress Book Error, and all emailadresses, scan-to-folder locations, and usercodes are stored on the HDD. So SC870 is a logical error when the HDD is missing.

What is SP 5845-43 set to?
Did you try SP 5846-50, 5801-3, and 5801-3?

lvsb I don't remember checking 5845, they are for the delivery server settings. I did 5846-50 and all the 5801 options. Is the 5845 sp important for this error?
Eric1968 THis machine has been running for almost a year.The HDD is an option in the MP 5000B. According to Ricoh tech support all the related info is stored to NVRAM. I have one on order, but something tells me that is not the answer. Anyone have any other suggestions? TIA

Sorry incorrect SP number, please check SP 5846-43.
This SP with indicate where the machine is looking for the address book.

...but have you tried reloading firmware? If this does not do the trick then I would have to go with the NVRAM since that is where the machine stores it if it has no HDD or SD card options. Before I install a new NVRAM I always try to see if cleaning the legs of and reseating the chip will fix the issue.

And on the B models the HDD is an option, so unless someone has installed it or changed 5846-43 from the default, you can rule out the HDD problems.

Let us know your fix results.

Controller board might be getting a bit twitchy.

I've had a lot of the newer ones fail, on the MP2550, MPC4500, MP8000 and one MP4000.

If you have a spare controller board from another Alex try it in this one but with the same HDD. If the fault remains, it's the HDD. If it moves, it's the board.

I am going to try reloading the firmware on Monday. I just got the NVRAM, so I can cover both possibilities. I will check SP 5846-43 before I do anything. Thanx for all the help. I will post what fixes this problem after.

Tried to reload firmware but machine did not recognise my 2GB sd card. I put in the NVRAM and was able to use the copier as the user codes were no longer active. Could not clear the SC 870 code though. Ricoh TS now says I should have changed the NVRAM and the controller board at the same time. I have ordered the board and will buy a new smaller sd card and try firmware again. I will post as things happen.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I forgot about this thread. The controller pwb and NVRAM fixed this machine. I wish I didn't have to send the NVRAM back before I got the contoller board so I don't know if the board along would have fixed it.

Sir,you try to update your firmware into a latest version,if nothing happen you change controller board your problem is solve.

Not sure what you mean... I was only commenting regarding the post by ERIC1968.

The "B" versions of the MP4000 / 5000 don't have a hard drive as sstandard and I was just clearing this up.

I understand that you had the problem and the control board fixed it, I have no problem with this!!
