Lanier 015SP with fax - noise through head phone

The customer is complaining of noise through the head set that is coming from the copier. Sounds like the noise is generated in the power supply. Is there a way I can remedy this noise.

Headset? I'm going to assume this unit has a fax option with the optional handset to use the fax as a phone and there is noise on the line when the handset is used for voice communication. I think you should be able to get a dial tone on the handset with out power to the machine, so unplug the machine and see if there is still noise on the line. If that doesn't work, us a standard phone in the "phone" jack with the machine unplugged.

If I've mis interpreted your post, I'm sorry.

I screwed up a little. It is a Lanier 016SPF with a fax. It is not the handset to the fax that is the problem. It is her headset that is plugged into a different jack in the wall.

Does the noise go away when the machine is off or unplugged? That's where I'd start. I don't think that's the problem however. If the machine created line interference for some reason, it would show up in the fax line of the machine. Noise, NG receptions, etc. The FCC tags on the faxes show the compliance with broadcast regulations (in the US).
