MP 402 Toner cartridge not set properly

Hello i have an MP 402 which has a problem with the toner cartridge not set properly. The customer said there was a paper jam in which they removed but after they placed the cartridge back in the problem started.
Now i have checked the both connections for the toner and the drum none are bent. I have replaced both the toner and the drum unit but still the problem is still there. Any thoughts can go a long way.

    Thanks.

Re: MP 402 Toner cartridge not set properly

Just had a couple in for this same issue.
It's the contact for the toner cartridge. Replace it.
It might look good, and it will even have continuity through the harness on each pin, but for whatever reason, it just won't work.
    Ricoh says to replace Connector:ID_Chip. P/N: M1873362

EDIT: They just released a bulletin for this issue on 9/30/2020 for the IM350/430F and the P501/502 printers, so apparently they're aware of the "high failure rate" with those contacts now, but just a warning that you will also see this problem in the newer series I mentioned.

EDIT again: P/N for the IM350/ P501 connector is D0A42499.

I have seen it more times than I can count. Also food for thought, the wiring harness unplugs at the end that touches the toner cartridge, the new part will come with harness and all attached. You do not need to rip the machine apart and replace the whole harness and all.. You can carefully pry the cover up enough to get a spring hook under there and unloop it from the metal hook under the cover and get enough slack to pull it out and disassemble. I have done it so many times now it's only a 10 minute job.

Thanks so much to all of you. I did not have to dismantle the machine, i got it done as you suggested.

        Thanks again.

Double check your prompt...If they had a paper jam, then they removed the entire toner/ drum assembly. Take a look at the drum drive gear, it's an internally driven gear. If it's turned just a little, it will say "drum unit not properly installed".

That's because the gear that interfaces internally is contacting a tooth on the internal gear. Turn the drum just a tiny bit to resolve.

I don't know which college do these Ricoh Engineers go to. We had so many issues with the yellow toner contact chips on the old MpC305. I thought they gotten a little smarter after 8 years.

MP 402 is not a color machine.
