Hi guys,
Just for the knowledge bank.
In a 8 day period i had two machines IM 350 & MP 301 go SC121 which is scanner carriage lock. Power cycle the machine and code would go away but when the scanner started moving you would hear a metal on metal screech for a second.
The leaf springs used to hold the mirrors inside the scanner were coming out and contacting the rear frame. Pic is from a IM350 with 8k pages. The MP301 had 90k.
To remove the optics cover from the IM 350, throw the book away. You don't have to rip off the op panel or all the covers it says. The little hinge cover on the left side of the op panel, just pull left and down and it will unclip enough to get the front scanner bezel free. Front bezel is just like a MP 301. Back cover is easier than the MP 301 as it's just 2 screws. You will see a ribbon cable and a joiner board. Remove the ribbon cable from the board on both sides, unscrew that and remove the board/holder. After that its exactly the same as a MP 301.
