My customer want to print on Unix OS with Ricoh Aficio 1515mf and Ricoh Aficio MP 161SPF. They ask the me " What is our need for this operations ?" But I don't have any information for Unix os.

Gutenprint, is a suite of printer drivers that may be used with most common UNIX and Linux print spooling systems, including CUPS ... and it will work with your MP161piece of cake for any unix administrator as they work in terminal.

Gutenprint is a package of high quality printer drivers for Linux, BSD, Solaris, Macintosh OS X, IRIX, and other UNIX-alike operating systems. In many cases, these drivers rival or exceed the OEM drivers in quality and functionality. Our goal is to produce the highest possible output quality from all supported printers. To that end, we have done extensive work on screening algorithms, color generation, and printer feature utilization. We are continuing our work in all of these areas to produce ever higher quality results, particularly on the ubiquitous, inexpensive inkjet printers that are nonetheless capable of nearly photographic output quality.

Users of other operating systems, such as Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, HP-UX, etc. should download the main package, named "gutenprint-5.0.0.tar.bz2". This is a "source tarball"; it contains the source code for the package and must be compiled to produce binary executables. The command to unpack this file is

tar xjvf gutenprint-5.0.0.tar.bz2
On some systems, you may have to issue the following command:

bunzip2 -c gutenprint-5.0.0.tar.bz2 | tar xvf -
This will create a subdirectory named gutenprint-5.0.0. You should read the files named README and NEWS in that subdirectory for further instructions
