Look, people, y'all have to break things down for dummies like me. I'm like...what is MIB? Like y'all expect me to know this.

The Printer MIB (Management Information Base) is the IETF proposed standard RFC1759. The protocol provided therein, provides a standard way for SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) applications to identify a printer's attributes, and a printer's status. ... The Private MIB provides some additional information.

Sounds similar to when a PS3 driver is used with a printer that does not support. I have also seen it a few times over the years with the correct driver when something has happened to corrupt the job header at the start of the data stream.

I can't count how many times I had a Fiery install, where the all-too-anxious IT person would download drivers for the internal controller. Like, oops!

Not really. That information might have been found with DuckDuckGo or Yahoo (Which I use) or just about any of the online search engines. Google may be the largest but that also makes them the one most likely to censor its results.

Hey, anyone can google MIB's but do you know what an OID is?

PS - This forum keeps taking me down the rabbit hole to enlightenment. When you start talking about SNMP, MIB's and OID's...you've passed the point of no return.

It's a shortened term for a painful butthole with the hemmor left out. OR it could be an object identifier.

You are correct. We're all out of prizes, though.

What started out as a simple thread about universal drivers has gotten deep really quick. I've spent the last hour getting up to speed on on SNMP, OID and and MIB.

Everything you ever wanted to know about MIB's. Class is in session:
