Re: use many toner
As someone who has been in the reman cart. business..hers's what I've seen. Reman companies try to purposely mislead the customer by printing OEM followed by the OEM number and it's usually prominent on the box. That leads consumers be believe that it's name brand toner. You're right. Reman companies by law are not allowed to put the word GENUINE on the box.Leave a comment:

Re: use many toner
I know for a fact that most manufacturers don't. That is why they label their supplies as GENUINE. As for the others then they have not yet dealt crap supplies labeled ad OEM.Leave a comment:

Re: use many toner
To me oem and genuine are the same. every engineer, dealer & manufacturer would class oem as genuineLeave a comment:

Replace D131 3161, it may have the seal broken. Good Luck!Leave a comment:

Re: use many toner
The term OEM actually means made to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's published specification. Is does not mean made BY the Original Equipment Manufacturer. Take toner and developer for example. They only need to contain the same basic ingredients in the same ratios, plus or minus legally allowed variances. It does not mean the same particle size, consistent shape or testing and inspections.Leave a comment:

Re: use many toner
These are normally good machines. I've had customers in universities run their machines 24 hours a day during exam times.
What I've noticed regarding toner is that when the machine is fully serviced and the drum, developer and filters are new you will get roughly 50000-55000 copies / prints @ 5-7% coverage.
When your drum and developer starts going beyond it's PM cycle the machine will still work but you will start getting less copy yield per toner. Generally the toner yield on those machines used to drop to 40000-45000 and will still drop further if the PM isn't done.
Like the other guys said (and also the mostly likely fault) is the machine requires a major clean up and service. Also change maintenance parts including drum , developer and filters. Remove toner hopper, strip and clean and reassemble.
Also, 1 more thing , all guys say this and I'll say it with them again, use OEM parts.Leave a comment:

Re: use many toner
I had high schools where 5M was the replacement mark. Going all the way back to the Aficio 700. Still clean and making good copies at that count when traded in.Leave a comment:

Re: use many toner
That pig can produce 10.000 pages x day if not more. There is no way its is so dirty with only 10k pages. Lot of maintenace to do it seems.
I've older models still going on with 5M+ pages way more cleaner than this.Leave a comment:

Re: use many toner
I've had customers do this: They open the front door and point to a circle of toner on the door like it's evidence of a major malfunction. After 8 years I would be very surprised if there wasn't some toner spilled, and certainly more than 10,000 copies.
You do know that this machine consumes large amounts of toner, and not all of it stays in the bottle? A couple of wipes with a dust cloth can solve this pretty quickly.
I assume that there's another reason that you're asking. Try again. =^..^=Leave a comment:
