    Ricoh MP C6003 - Card Reader/Paper Cut

    Hi guys,

Does anyone know the best type of card readers for a RICOH MP C6003 (mainly work on Konicas), i have never really worked on these machines before and am not sure which card readers are the best. We are going to be deploying Paper Cut on these machines.

Do the card readers need a certain type of driver installed on the machine for them to work?

How do you enable the machine to see the card reader?

    Any help would be great!

I mainly see the black RFIdeas card readers on Papercut installs. They'll have to be the ones with the A-type USB connector.

They may have to have specific firmware programmed onto them using PcProx if required. SP5113-002 set to 1, SP5844-100 set to 0, set Enhanced External Charge Unit Management in user tools on for each function you want to restrict, do not restrict the printer function.

    Hit it.

I second with the SP details and here is the model you could use.
If you buy a used one from ebay, ensure that you have reset it to default by downloading rfideas software utility.

Definitely the RFIdeas reader, as mentioned.

I have installed a ton of these with Ricoh Streamline.

You will most likely need to configure it with the utility, as there are so many different types of prox cards.

Don't worry, it's an easy install, and pretty simple to use. You just plug the reader into your PC and set up the reader.

I have used RFIdeas tech support several times (when I got stuck), and I am happy to say it was one of the best and easiest calls ever...they really know their stuff.

          I forgot to mention...

If you get lucky and the reader works OK without being configured, great, but if the customer wants the "beep" to be turned off (I think the default is "on"), the utility is required for that.

Take it from experience. If the machine is anywhere near people, and the environment is at least fairly quiet, they will most likely be begging you to turn it off after a few days, if that.

I once did a large install of about 25 machines as part of a team at one customer, and we had to go back to each machine to turn it off. Really easy, but no fun. And no, there is no remote way to do this.

            Hi Guys,

sorry for the late reply, we have just received the below card readers for the machines and i have gone through the settings provided but i am still getting 'incompatible USB device has been connected'
            card reader.jpg

When i set SP 5844-100 "notify unsupport" to 0 and rebooted the machine, it still comes up as 1 when i go back into it.

sorry for the lack of knowledge i have with these machines, we generally work on Konica's'/Develop.

              Hello,

looking back i cannot actually input the Vendor ID (09D8) Product ID (0410) as when i select 0 it doesn't let me input anything else and also there isn't an execute button to actually save the settings?

Depeding on the machine the VID and PID are in user tools.
