how to enter SP Mode on RICOH PRO 751

    Hi,

I got an old partly working Pro 751 from an old company which has closed down. I have for many years played around fixing old equipment ant therefor I wanted to see if this one can be fixed as well.
I got the machine working but the I ran out of black toner, bought a new Original Ricoh toner set and replaced the Black. the machine recognises the new tone but still saying 0% an tells me to replace the toner, then I got it replaces from the dealer but still the same.

now I think that some thing is wrong with the Toner supply part (Pump or clutch) there for I went on and replaced it, but now I would need to for the toner fill to get toner into the hopper, for that I would need to enter SP mode.
i don not find any information in the service manuals how to enter the SP mode. but I fount some old threads here telling me to press Yellow 107 and then hold the "c" key for 3-4 seconds.
when I do this the printer sends out a "Beep" bit the screen don not show anything different. am I doing I right? or maybe I have to enable the SP mode buy one of the dip switches?

hope that someone could guide me further as I would love to se it run again

    Hello,

Do you mean Pro C751? If you more than likely its the chuck on the piece that pulls the toner cap off. the little wings that hold the parts together break off I have had to replace 4 this week on several machines and it takes about an hour to do. I have also seen striped gears on these things i would inspect all of the gears and stuff once its apart.

You are correct with yellow 107 and cancel for 5 seconds to enter the SP mode.Make sure you do it in 7 seconds and have all buttons working, check all buttons individually to be sure.
However, you have not provided complete information with regard to its working scenario.Did you make it work and had run a few hundred copies or prints etc.
              2) Did the black toner message came instantly after it got ready or came after few hundred copies/prints?
              3) Are you aware of the running history of this device and what code it had when it stopped working?

This is first production engine (from Heidelberg) before Ricoh bought it from them and now you have C7100, C9100, C7200 coming after them.
These engines do not run on compatibles and ensure that you have genuine OEM parts/consumables like toner bottles etc. from company.
Once the equipment writes low toner on the Rfid chip it will stay that way and you have rectify the toner supply (fresh developer,/broken toner supply clutch/pump etc.) before replacing the fresh bottle as the chip becomes useless even it has 100% toner in it.
              I hope it helps.

any suggestions how i could test the buttons? i am reaching a Beep but nothing else on screen.

                2) i fixed the machine and i did maybe 5000-10000 page prints both single and double sided. the printer was running perfectly for around 6 - 8 months. then i ran out of black toner doing a print of 1000 pages. i contacted a ricoh distributer and bought a full set of original Ricoh toner. i think maybe 4 weeks after the change toner massage i put in the new toner, the toner was spinning but the machine still said change toner. then i spoke to the ricoh distributer again who spoke to ricoh, they tould that the see 1 out of 10.000 toners potentional failing so they delivered me a new one. but still the same, there for i started to do some research thinking the toner supply unit is failing.
i dont know the history of the machine other that i got is non working, it was jamming the paper on every print. here i fount out there was misalignment of some of the photo cells in the printer to register the paper travel.

do i understant correct that because something is wrong and i have placed the toner in the machine i now have 2 toner bottles which is use less? how can i ensure that the machine is ready to recive a new toner and will not destroy it? is there a way to move around the RFID? to get i running before spending more money on toner?

                    My reply was gone,

any suggestion how to check that the keys are actually working? I good the beeps but nothing happens.

                    2) when I picked it up the machine jammed every piece of paper, found out that some of the photocells was mis aligned and detected the paper travel to late. after I fixed this, I printed 5000-8000 pages with out any problem, I was printing 1000 pages which was heavy on black toner usage and ran out( the bottle is empty. I then contacted a distributer and bought a full set of Original toner. maybe after 4 week from the empty toner message I replaced with the new one. the toner bottles pinned but the messages didn't go away. I then called the distributer who called Ricoh. Ricoh mould that the see 1/10000 toners failing and there for they sent me a new one. but the same happened the bottle was turning but nothing happens with the alarm.

                    3) i don't know the history other than is was jamming all the papers when I got it.

do i understand correctly that I now have 2 toner bottles which are use less? is there a way to work around this to check before buying the next one and destroy it?

Your problem is in the toner pump. In 99% cases. There could also be a clogged pipe or clutch.
After you put new toner, machine starts toner pump to add toner to the hoper. If the toner sensor doesn't recognise that there is toner supplied after three times it will blow toner chip. There is patch to recover blown toner chip, but you have to replace toner pump.
There is no need to enter diagnostic and force toner pump if it's not working already.

You'll need a tech with access to software, who will install patch to recover the rfid chip.

                              Just buy the chips.
                              Google it.
