[Misc] macOS scanning problems with RICOH C4503

    Greetings,

I have decided to send this message after a lot of back and forth. I do not consider myself a technician but I work in a printing business and I am the only one able to work with a computer.

So, we have recently acquired a Ricoh c4503 and after connecting to our two new mac computers it's impossible to make the Folder scan work correctly. Here are what happens on each computer.

The first computer has a 10.14.6 system working. I have connected the printer driver and everything seems ok. However, when I try to connect through the SMB function it keeps asking me for a login and password and none of the combinations that I know and used work. The mac admin code fails to make a connection and any other combination just asks me to input the code again.
I did check some solutions online and I have seen people suggesting the use of telnet. However, this system does not have the telnet command working. I tried the ssh command and it refuses to make a connection.

The second computer used to have a much lower version system (10.8.6 or 10.6.8 I fail to remember) and the scanner worked fine. Connected it and had no issues. but we sent it over for an upgrade and it was upgraded to 10.13.6. Again, I connected it just fine, no passwords were asked or anything. Yet it makes the other impossible thing. It scans the images alright but the only one who has permissions to see the file is...nobody while everyone has No Access. I have no way to change that so I cannot open the images at all.

I have even spoken to a mac technician but even they couldn't figure this out so this is my last resort. I have studied every possible manual and troubleshooting codes but the only thing I have gained is endless headaches over the past week.

I am able to provide any kind of additional information you might need but I would greatly appreciate any kind of help.

Note: If possible, I want to avoid the possibility of using FTP because while it's fine for me, I wouldn't say the same for my employer and so far the folder option seems the most convenient.

    Thank you very much.

in system preference you have turn on file sharing /set up share folder /user has read write and under options have selected share files smb and account have select user. telnet not working have to go into service mode and go to 5-828-90 set to 1. then go to terminal put in ip address and login if you has use web monitor same login
then type smb will show smb client is 0 try 2 if does not work try 1. let me know on 2 if it works. have try and it wont work for me invalid parameter. one more when it ask on copier for login info that is user name on computer and its password

At a minimum, the machine will need a firmware update.
The '03 series does not support SMB V2/3 without it, which would seem to explain why it worked prior to the MAC OS update

The login and password that it is asking for would be a user name on the mac with rights to write to the folder you are attempting to scan to.

As for the one where no one has permission to access the scanned, you need to login to the mac as a user with administrator rights, take ownership of the file(s) and then add the needed permissions.

          Here's the solution:

First step: Do what sandmanmac said.

Second step: Do what slim said.

          In that order.

ok, that is something that I have never tried but as far as I can see it requires a file to update (?). I logged in through the web browser and this is the info it shows me

I do use that one and it just refuses to make a connection like I said before as for the permissions, I have managed to do it but that is not a very desirable option because it means i need to do it every time i scan and my employer wasn't very fond of it

I also made a sharing folder and followed your instructions to the letter in a previous post and made sure the permissions are on Read & Write so that part works correctly, I think

Thank you very much! I'll try that firmware thing and report back.

Print SP 5990-005 Diagnostic Report, lists all firmware installed, and SP 5990-006 Non-Default on both machines and compare.
