Greetings,
I have decided to send this message after a lot of back and forth. I do not consider myself a technician but I work in a printing business and I am the only one able to work with a computer.
So, we have recently acquired a Ricoh c4503 and after connecting to our two new mac computers it's impossible to make the Folder scan work correctly. Here are what happens on each computer.
The first computer has a 10.14.6 system working. I have connected the printer driver and everything seems ok. However, when I try to connect through the SMB function it keeps asking me for a login and password and none of the combinations that I know and used work. The mac admin code fails to make a connection and any other combination just asks me to input the code again.
I did check some solutions online and I have seen people suggesting the use of telnet. However, this system does not have the telnet command working. I tried the ssh command and it refuses to make a connection.
The second computer used to have a much lower version system (10.8.6 or 10.6.8 I fail to remember) and the scanner worked fine. Connected it and had no issues. but we sent it over for an upgrade and it was upgraded to 10.13.6. Again, I connected it just fine, no passwords were asked or anything. Yet it makes the other impossible thing. It scans the images alright but the only one who has permissions to see the file is...nobody while everyone has No Access. I have no way to change that so I cannot open the images at all.
I have even spoken to a mac technician but even they couldn't figure this out so this is my last resort. I have studied every possible manual and troubleshooting codes but the only thing I have gained is endless headaches over the past week.
I am able to provide any kind of additional information you might need but I would greatly appreciate any kind of help.
Note: If possible, I want to avoid the possibility of using FTP because while it's fine for me, I wouldn't say the same for my employer and so far the folder option seems the most convenient.
Thank you very much.
