Hello, I just replaced the HDD to fix an email error I was getting, fired it back up, all is well until i get a new code! SC545 Fusing overheat Error 3. Anyone know what I should look for in the unit or what can be done to fix it? I tried clearing the code but after starting it back up, same code. Thanks.

where are the thermistors located in the machine? I have the back panel off but dont see anything resembling a picture I found of one.Comment

The thermistors are located on the Fusing Unit. There are 2 of them :
Thermistor Center : Part No. AW10 0085
Thermistor Rear : Part No. AW10 0086
Last week i've had this error on an Aficio MP3030. Replaced the 2 thermistors, reset the Service Call, and machine was OK. Also take a look at the Hot Roller. When it is damaged the thermistor can't measure the temperature correctly.
Good Luck!Comment

what machine are we talking about Sir? for every machine has its own thermistor and thermostat... basically this fusing over heat error as far as my little experience... dirty tip of thermistor, hot roller has been scratch due also to this dirt, open thermostat... wrong plug in on its designated input voltage... anyhow... verify first before we repalce or even may be we can reset via sp mode then turn on/off... hope it can help....fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.Comment

SC545
Before going out and buying any parts, be sure you are in fact over temping the unit. Sometimes the first over temp will damage parts(ie. lamp, hot roller, bushings ect.). Be sure the lamp is coming on. also try ohming out the thermister. put thumb in some icy water dry it off and place it against the working surface of the thermister. If it is not open you should see the resistance change as your thumb warms up.Comment
