Now this I find odd. When we did the course for the Adonis we were told NOT to use setting powder on their drums as charge rollers don't like it. I've never used setting powder and don't put toner on the blade either, I've never had a problem with premature drum failure or blade flip.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I've always used the new blade to scrape a little toner off the old blade, otherwise they do tend to stick to the drum. Powdering the entire drum is a big no-no because the machine is just not capable of cleaning it off the charge roller.

Certain Generic blades fail prematurely, so we try to use oem.

I would check the mylars under the blade, I have seen ones ripped up from the bad toner in these machines. Also check the drum ground, when you check it make sure you check it in at least 8 rotation spots, what I mean is that sometimes it is good but then you turn the drum just a little bit and it is gone. That has fixed alot of my problem machines in this series. By the way they have new ones that are bad from day one in this regard
Also to put the drum in you can leave the charge roller and brush out and powder the drum and put it in and rotate it so all the dust comes off, then take the drum out put the charge roller and brush back in and finish the job.
I do not use the 2nd blade I throw it away
          Good luck

                D009? That's the MP4/5000. Interesting.

Has anyone had issues retrofitting these machines to use the old toner and developer?

I obtained good results replacing just the mag roller assy with a 1035/45 one B004-3100. The 4500 mag roller assy it's the same with the 2035 one. It has the same part no. B082 3100. The coating on B004-3100 it's different. On the affected units replacing just the mag roller the reliability increased from 40-45K to 85/95K, using the original toner/dev designed for this machine.
