NAS server as printerserver

This might be a (very) stupid question (forgive me), but is it possible to set a Synology NAS up with a printerserver software?
Are there any disadvantages to a usual printer server set up?

That article only mentions USB connected printers.

I highly doubt it would work with network connected ones.
