Get an SDcard, format it, then create a folder called romdata on the card then put your firmware XXXXX.fwu file into that folder then turn off the machine insert the SDcard into service slot that is #3 should be the last one counting from top to bottom, turn on your machine an it will boot from the card, then on touch screen will appear update firmware.
    Thats it, easy.

To load firmware in the Aficio 2022 you need the 4MB Flash Memory Card (there is no SD-card slot in this machine). You need Ricoh Memory Card Explorer to write the firmware on the card.

RTB19 describes a method to remotely update the firmware via the network with the FTP-protocol.

I might be wrong here but I think the firmware on this unit is updated with a pcmcia card using the ricoh swap box utility to upload to the card. But why are you getting the 543 code? this is a fuser over heat code. Have you tried to clear the code using SP 5-810? Did the code come back? If so have you checked the thermal fuses or if the fuser bearing stay guide has broken off sending the roller closer to the thermal fuses? Your original post doesn't really say if you have tried to clear code or if the code re-occurs intermittently.

The 4MB Card is a PCMCIA-card, and you can write to it with Memory Card Explorer. Did it about 2 weeks ago on a 2022 with same SC-code.

Memory Card explorer can be purchased or you can download the free 30 day trial here.
                MCERICOH - XP V1.00 Demo

You can order the 4MB flash memory card from Ricoh. That part# is N8036701.

                Hope this helps.

SC543 is a Russian being a Russian. They ALL do it, right from the C1 to the C5.

There was an update for 542 a while ago, it involved putting a bit of card between the HV board and the fuser connector.

Don't start throwing parts at it, it doesn't need it - they just do this.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                  Hit it.

Worth updating the Firmware if you can. Had examples of these machines which now and then throw up the code every few months or weeks depending how they are used. But after the firmware is updated the problem fades away in many cases.

Worth enquiring with your boss so you can upgrade both the older pcmia devices and the newer sd card type.

You will also need the pcmia compact flash card and a sd card on some machines for backing up nv info and address book data.

Worth looking into when you can before you need it and trust me one day you will.
