Most likely the torque limiter.

Would also guess the torque limiter, that broke down on a machine for me as well and looked like a fairly weak construction compared to older models.

Slim was correct about the limiter.
But what else was going on with that Jam. Was the spring that holds up the gate for paper input was off its hook in the drive area. Looking into the sp 5990-04 the error log said that there where over 200 adf input jams. So, after I had replaced the sep roller, Limiter, Feed belt then it jammed in a slightly different spot. which made me take the back off I found the lose spring. I am sure that spring came off because the customer was putting up with the jams until it would not feed anything. I am sure that this time and material customer did not want to pay for the service call, so they waited till it did not work at all. Anyway, another one fixed
