    Ricoh FT 3713

What has anyone done for an e-14 code. The man who I use to work for had the copier plugged into a voltage regulator. He felt the voltage at the customers office kept fluctuating. The customer had there power turned off and when it came back up the code did as well. They could not reset the error code. I was going out this morning yet they called and said the copier was working. So I'm trying to find out if the problem would be in the copier. Thanks!

Can't find E-14 in the manual. Are you sure it's E-14?

Yes the code is E-14; we received a fax update from ricoh in June of 1999 in which it stated that there were different error as well as service codes between the A151 and A152 copiers.
      Thanks!

When you say reset copier is there a sp that does this for this error code. Why or what would cause this to continually happen?
          Thanks!

due to power fluctuation it caused this error.. yes it can be reset from the machine. unfortunately, i cant reckon the sp mode or how to reset that error. its been eons since i last serviced this old ricoh model..

Strewth! had to dive deep into the celler to dig this one out!
There was a RTB issued to correct an error in the service manual. E14 says the 240v AC supply frequency is crook i.e. not a nice stable 50Hz. These days it would be called a zero cross error. Basically it means you have a dirty power supply and the copier cant work out when abouts in the AC cycle to turn the lamps on.
I once battled this problem with this model in a water pumping station where the copier was sited between two huge electric motors that spiked the AC feed every time they turned on. Never resolved the problem since we lost the contract.
In your case I would be very suspicious of the PSU. Due to its age I'd be thinking that all the filter caps have started to dry out and break down.

Anyway why is this fossil still out there? Surely the customer can buy a nice new multifunction machine from K mart/Walmart with 10 times as many functions for less than you are going charge them? Please dont tell me you have it under service contract!!!!

There are 3 e codes that cannot be reset by turning the main switch on and off. They are E52, E53 and E55, and they all are fuser codes. To reset these codes turn the main switch on, turn DPS101-1 on and off (located on the system main board) then turn the main switch off and on.
It is a little suprising that people still operate these old things. They never were that great even brand new.
