    Ricoh 1035

    I had to calls recently for SC 861,863, and 865 all HDD problems. I didn't think while I was there to reformat the HDD. Besides that or replacing the HDD if problems persist is there something more that can be done? Thanks!

    Just make sure that the firmware is always at the latest version. Although the firmware does not necessarily relate to HDD errors, because the machine's components are so interleaved, I think that occasional feedback or glitches in the software can throw weird codes sometimes.

    There is a bad sector setting as well, as you don't always have to reformat the HDD. If the codes still are being thrown, get back there and reseat all of the connectors for the boards, as this can sometimes help.

      On this model firmware can cause HDD problems - seems they changed manufacturers and had to update something so it would recognize the new drives...

        THey had made the functionality of these way way to dependant on the HDD. So much so if you pull it there goes your duplexing and finishing functions.....

        Just not a good idea.

          If I replace the HDD and copier is set up for print and scan what will happen to those features? Will they be lost?

            No they won't be lost once the drive is replaced.. What they are saying is that if you unplug the HDD to temporarily get rid of those codes, you'll lose those features, but the machine will still work.

            The 2022/27 series has had HDD problems too, and when you unplug the drive, those features are also lost.

            Once you replace and format the drive, the features will return. They are dependent on the drive being installed.

              The address book is stored on the HD. Print it out first. This model uses a 4MB card so I'm not sure if you can back it up first or not.

                What is the sp for printing out the address book? How do I re-install?
                Thanks!

                  Its in User Tools, something like: UT>SS>Admin tools> Address Book Management >Print Address Book. Something like that.
                  I dont see an SP to DL the address book. I know they can do it on some of the newer machines but apparently not this old dog.

                    I guess I'm curious as to why I would need to print out the address book? The company I use to do my IT work told me that swapping out the harddrive would not cause a need for them to come back out to re-set the scanning feature. They did mention something about the ip-address but didn't really explain; told me to call and they would walk me through what needed to be done.
                    Thanks!!!

                      Because the address book data is stored on the HD, If you replace the HD all the names and destinations, if any, will be gonzo. If they dont do scanning or faxing then it isnt a problem;
                      Oh yeah, the stamp data is stored on the HD too. I think that file is only available on the TSC or TESSA site. Most people wont miss it tho. But if they do, you'll need the file to update it, and thats an SP to upload.
