Customer called for noise which I found to come from the fuser unit. I had just replace the upper fuser roller and both gears fuser drive as well as heat roller gear. I separated the two rollers and they both moved freely. I cleaned the heat roller bushings and reassembled rollers turned freely. Also the upper roller had a red tint to it which is not coming from the lower roller or from what customer is copying any thoughts on the tint problem and possible causes for unit seasing up?
    Thanks!

The stripper pawls can also generate noise.

But can they bind the fuser unit? Can they cause the heat roler to be discolored (Roller has a red tint)?
      Thanks!

Typical noises, clicking, squeaking are probably coming from the upper bearings, I replace them and lube with barretta with each new upper roller.
No ideas on the tint but I think its from something they ran thru the machine.

By upper bearings you mean the half moon bushings? Would replacing be recommended?

Customers often say they didn't use any strange media, but a hot roller doesn't turn red by itself.

Customers should add AFAIK after their statements. Maybe the janitor ran some red paper thru there. maybe someone isnt fessin' up.
I wouldnt consider it contributory to the noise tho. A red herring so to speak.
