Programming trays on Ricoh IM C6000

Hi My medical customer needs to do the following

    Tray 1 has white paper
    Tray 2 has green paper
    Tray 3 has yellow paper
    Tray 4 has blue paper

8 pages are put in the document feeder.

Then they press a command to COPY in some specific order

    like

pages 1-2 are copied in white Tray 1

pages 3-4 copies in green Tray 2

pages 5-6 copies in yellow Tray 3

pages 7-8 copies in blue Tray 4

We are able to do this on the current Kyocrea copier but I cannot figure out how do it on the Ricoh replacement we are providing them.

    Any help is appreciated.

There are a couple of ways. But the only one of them allows you to put all originals in the feeder at once and that is to scan into a document, set the tray source for each page and then reprint it.

Ok I have added a sample document to the Document Server, assuming thats what you mean by scan into a document. But, how to do you set the tray source without doing 2 pages at a time and selecting the trays.
Our goal is to do it just like the Kyocera or as close to the Kyocera as possible.

So if it prints from document server, how to do store which trays it prints from for which pages.

To throw a wrench in it.
Here is the exact way the 6 page document needs to come out.

      Page 1 White
      Page 2 green
      Next 3 pages Yellow
      Page 6 blue

By scan to a document I mean on a computer as a word processing document.

Ok I spoke with customer they are able to print the document from a computer to the copier.

I went into my PCL 6 driver and went to detailed settings, cover/slip/designate but I cannot select multiple trays. I get an error message.

Ricoh MP C6004ex is what I doing it on as a test.

Any advice on how to print a muti page document and select different trays for different pages?

How to use multiple paper sources for a single job - Ricoh I found this but my PCL 6 driver does not have this option.

It is not done in the driver, it is done in the document. They go to Format Page and select the appropriate tray. That selection stays in effect until changed at the start of a new page. It is basic word processing. The same principle used when creating a business letter where the first page needs to be on Letterhead and the rest does not.

Well I only have a PDF version of the actual document.

There has to be a way to select the trays, seems like such a basic tool.

I'm not sure I can help, but looking at the link to the page you provided, even though the driver dialog box is shown to be for a PCL 6 driver, the options and features are definitely from the older PCL 5C driver. I'm not sure why ??
There isn't a PCL 5c driver offered for the IM C6000, so I just downloaded and installed the PCL 5c driver for the older MP C6004 to confirm, and all of those features are there. (I didn't try the setup, because I don't have a similar machine at the moment).

The Generic PCL 5 driver listed online also doesn't include those features.

According to my documentation, the IM C6000 still supports PCL 5c printing, so I don't know why you can't try using the older MP C6004 driver to gett the results you're looking for.
Personally, I often don't bother updating the PCL6 drivers for many of my customer when they go from one Ricoh model to a newer unit. I've never had a problem.

                      Good Luck!

If they have the fully Adobe Acrobat wheere they ca create and edit a ,pdf, then they can do page formatting. If not, they can print each section to the Document Server selecting the tray for that section from the print screen. They can then merge from the Document Server.

Thanks everyone for their input. Quick update
Ricoh PCL5c is the only driver I found with the option. Thank you Sandmanmac

Issues why we probably have to stick with Kyocera.
                          1. Customer currently copies and the kyocera copier follows current method.
                          2. There are no PCL 5c drivers for the IM series. (I know I can probably still use the old driver but , Ricoh is going away from it)
                          3. Once we change the settings in the PCL5c driver the only way to save them is to download the settings. So every time customer wants to use those specific settings, they have to upload the settings to use. This is not going to be feasible in a very busy Dr office with multiple users.
                          4. I don't want to complicate a simple task and force the customer into a Ricoh when they are happy with the Kyocera.

                            This is the correct answer.
