The one warning I give customers when I gave key op's on the document server feature was to treat it like a computer; WHEN it goes out someday, the documents are gone. Of course, I said it in a nice way, but I did want them to understand that because of the copier movement, heat, etc, that the HDD is subjected to more stress than a normal HDD in a computer, and they usually just accepted it.

They'll just have to scan in those documents again and re-label them. Also, double check the key op setting for when the documents get erased and make sure that the setting is off of the default time to delete, which I think was three days.

Unless someone else knows of a trick, I do not know of a way to retrieve these documents. Once you reformatted it, those are gone.

Once it's deleted from the HDD it's gone. Everything will need to be rescanned and stored.

          That's a bugger.

A customer that actually uses the document server feature.

So sorry this happened to you...been there done that! Format destroys the files.

If the copier is connected to the network for printing and they have at least some of the documents in electronic format, they can print them to the document server by choosing "Job Type = Document Server" This allows them to do it quicker and name the file when sending to the Doc Server.

If you are considering a format for any reason, always check the doc server and print out the documents before you format...if you can. Sometimes you get lucky and can save their docs and sometimes not.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.
