    Auto Notification Email

Having some issues setting up Auto Notification Email. It's something we would like to move to for many of our distant clients that scan to email.
I'm testing it on a Ricoh MP C6503 on our Demo Floor. We already scan to email and it has a default email sender so we don't have to select a sender. Scanning to Email has worked fine on this MFP for years. We DON'T have POP3/POP configured as this machine doesn't receive email request. Email on Demand.

I've gone to the Auto Notification Settings in WIM and setup a Group with Email Address for the Errors/Toner Alerts I wish to receive. I selected all just for testing.
I used this guide. I didn't do the On Demand setup as we won't be emailing the copier to request a meter. Is this feature sketchy? Other Techs say they never got it to work either.
I made the copier jam internally and in ADF and no email. I did test scanning to my email. The same email setup for the Auto Notifications. I'm updating the copiers Firmware now jic.

Appears for some ungodly reason that POP MUST BE Configured. Or it's just Office365 vs Gmail being different. I've tried it on a newer machine with gmail (worked kinda). It worked for running out of paper (which is something not even needed), but not for "Paper Misfeed" (which I assume is a jam, forced or not. or "Cover Open."
