Ricoh MP C3500 black drum unit

    Hi Guys;

I have a customer with this Ricoh mp C3500 that needs the black drum unit assy replaced... I want to do the whole thing that includes the developer unit with it... Can someone provide me the part number & also the sim number for the new bk drum unit install procedure?

    Thanks,

Re: Ricoh MP C3500 black drum unit

The C3500 was introduced in September 2006. Do you customer a favor and sell them something newer, much newer, before something fails that is no longer available. In fact Genuine Ricoh K drum units may no longer be available.

If you really want to try, drum and development units are listed in the Accessories portion of the parts catalog. New unit set SP codes are listed in the service manual. If you need either, put as request in the Service Manual Requests forum.

Re: Ricoh MP C3500 black drum unit

I know the machine is ancient... They have several machines & use this for specific jobs.. Just wanted a part number & a little insight on the procedure to either change out just the drum portion or whole unit

I did find the whole unit, Drum/Developer unit assy. .. would you mind giving the procedure & sim to set up the new unit?
        Thanks

You can use the BK PCU from SPC811 with a little modding but for one job it's probably not worth to dig through ancient threads here and the prica gap for BK parts isn't really worth the time, too.

For the copier you'll find the PCU assy far too expensive - if you "like" that customer very much you should be kind and order drum unit and dev unit seperately And yes, this machine is very old so all in all I wouldn't recommend a repair, too. I find it funny that this one is still alive because we had a lot of PSU failures with our last ones in the field.

OK.... I guess we're beating a dead horse on the subject of how old the machine is.. I know its old, I know they shouldn't put money in it & yes, I know its not worth doing.... But besides that, I guess nobody knows or doesn't want to share the procedure to install a new bk dr/dev unit.. Thanks for your input & have a great day.

Sorry I don't have any manuals for these dinosaurs on my computer but the parts number must be:

Ricoh Aficio MP C2500 Black Developer Assembly with Developer, Genuine (G5294)
Ricoh B224-2042,B2242042 RICOH AFICIO MP C2500 DRUM UNIT BLACK Drum Unit Toner.com information

Procedure for seperating/merging PCU/DV unit is very related to this video:

DRUM RICOH COLOR copier MPC 3002 3502 4502 5502 MODYFICATION SAVE 300USD - YouTube (I think you just re-use the copper-bushing + clip so you won't need to disassemble the old stuff completely - and you don't have to mod anything)

Before turning off the MFP enter service mode and look for the last SP under SP3xxx (drum) - it's called "new unit set" -> set Black PCU / Drum / Development Unit to "1" (don't forget to confirm with # each time).

Getting the PCU out is pretty self explaining -> open front door -> remove 1 screw+little plastic thingy that protects the locking mechanism that covers the PCU area -> move the lever and open the PCU cover -> turn transfer belt the lever above the BK PCU so the transfer belt has no contact to the BK drum -> pull out PCU.

It's really self explaning because the printer version of this engine is designed to be maintained by customers. Like I said it's also possible to use a complete SPC811 black PCU and use it the the copier version with some tricks but since I can't recall every step I'm not goona dig through the old threads at this point and leave that to you.

I will say once again. it is in the service manual. If you do not have a service manual, request one in the request forum.

It's all there and download seems to work
