    Ricoh IM350 - SC687

    Hi All

I have an IM350 that does not want to play ball.

It started with its nonsense at the customer, where after about 2 days of working and standby, it would (once docs are loaded in the df and copy button is pressed) feed the 1st sheet from the tray to registration, and the engine would run as if it is copying (it even says PRINTING on the display)!

It however does not feed paper from the df and will sit like this for about 1 to 2 minutes, and then will bring up the classic FUNCTIONAL PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED error screen.

Once the paper is removed from registration, and the machine restarted, the diagnostics report reveals SC687-00.

Manual says to update firmware and failing that to replace the combined BICU/Controller.

I have upgraded all the firmware including panel firmware. I also replaced the controller combo. It does however use the customer's original nvram.

The machine will work perfectly for 2 days and the suddenly "fall over" when a copy set is requested.

I am out of ideas!! There are no lose memory modules to swop, so I don't know anymore.

I would greatly appreciate any ideas from the CTN family!

Did you check the SC history for other codes?
Did you swap or reformat the HDD (not shure if this model has one - sometimes a faulty or laggy HDD can trigger other controller related SCs)

I think that's worth a try - you can also swap the S-ATA cable when you're at i - I think there was a bulletin about "quality problems"/chance for improper connection that was valid for a variety of models (not shure if the IM350 was in the list though..). Still it's funny that this error seems only to appear in copy mode. Is it connectoed to the network for printing + scanning, too?

@Gift this is purely connected to the ac outlet. Nothing else tied to the controller.

It is doing my head in as the manual only says upgrade firmware or replace main board for this code.

Does it havfe any type of power line protection between it and the AC outlet? If not you may be getting power line hits like spikes and RF interference possibly even a floating ground.

HDD is an option, easy to remove or disconnect it. Try this first.

                Hi all

Just an update - switched on the machine this morning, made to sets of copies (with the new HDD) and the 3d set, BANG same fault!

                  Hmm, shit....

Does it make a difference if you don't use the DF and copy from glas plate?
