Require Windows XP driver for Ricoh Pro 8220S

    Dear All,
As windows XP has stopped support, I could not find windows XP driver for Ricoh Pro 8220S. But one of my client require windows XP driver due to His own special customized software. I've tried with other 32 bit OS driver, but it's not supporting. If any of you have any XP driver of this model or same series another model please suggest.

    Hi

I personally have not worked with this particular model.

The problem here is that Windows XP is so old that Ricoh does not offer drivers for it. Even Microsoft themselves do not offer updates for it. That's another reason why Ricoh doesn't offer drivers for it.

In my experiences when I have clients with Windows XP systems I :
    1) Advise them in advance that there is a strong possibility that the drivers won't work due to the age of Windows and they need to upgrade it. And that the outcome and whatever problems they face thereafter is on them. But I will help where I can

    2) I thereafter try different things,
Try to use 32bit drivers meant for other versions of Windows. Eg. Windows 10 32bit or Windows 8 e2bit
    3) Try drivers for other Ricoh models. Eg. Ricoh Mp6500 or MP1350. Might work. And Ricoh are sometimes compatible across other models

    Best of luck friend

The driver model for Windows changed with Vista, so likely no 32-bit driver from a newer OS will likely work, especially for a machine released after XP was already end of life. Also keep in mind that Windows 10 is the last 32-bit version of Windows as Windows 11 and future operating systems will not have a 32-bit version released.

Your only option beyond getting the customer to find a way to move into a modern era of computing will likely be to use a PCL driver for an older model in the same speed range, if you can find one.

Not to mention the fact that before discontinuing support for all Windows before WIn7, I checked the download page and almost all Ricoh PCL5 and PCL6 drivers for all versions of Windows from XP on were the same version number, file size and file name with the only difference between X86(32 bit) and 64 bit.

The driver download is identical, it's just what NT versions are included in the inf and any ini files that determine what OS it can be installed on without issues.

If your client does not have any issue using a PS driver.
Have a PS kit installed to save hassle in future.

the above is the best answer for a long term solution...
if you are hell bent on getting a ricoh driver that supports xp for that model...
                here are your possibilites
                1. contact the people you buy ricoh parts and machines from to see if they have one of the old print driver install discs...
                2. google around online looking for the ricoh name, gestetner name or savin name of the machine with either windows xp or windows 7 driver... they should work the same...
                3. try creating a dummy print server or shared printer on a windows 10 machine and see if you can get an xp machine to connect to it... and print... you can then thats a fair solution...
                just some ideas...
they can work but the problem is what happens if they upgrade... ???
your best bet is the ps kit suggested above... its is the best solution...
                atleast thats what I think...

If you go this route, be sure that after sharing the printer from the Windows 10 machine that you also add the 32-bit driver for sharing as the print driver has to match the processor architecture of the OS.
