    af 2022

A common problem at the fuser units of these machines is that press roller loses it position and it doesn't press on heat roller. If you check the rollers at one side (at the side where the green lever is ) press roller is away from heat roller. When i put them at right position after some copies the same problem appears. Any idea how to fix it?

Replace the lower fusing frame, if it is still available.

VERY common, and INCREDIBLY hard to believe that you haven't even stumbled upon the solution by accident over the last 15 years - but then again......

Yes, plastic retainer breaks so bearing shifts out of position.
Solution: Install a ringed heat roller bearing instead ( IE: mp4002), and the ring will act as the retainer, but first remove and trim off a bit of the ring, so that the tension lever isn't interfered with

I got really good at shaping a heavy steel paper clip to hold the bearings in place.

He says that '' press roller loses it position '', not the hot roller...

Yet the fix of a modified bearing for the heat tube has been fixing this issue for decades. The press roller uses a metal frame to keep its bearings in place. The heat tube uses a plastic cut out, once that breaks, the press roller will appear to have slipped out of place because there's no longer any tension to keep the two rollers together.

Hmm..... seems I jumped the gun on the one.
Never had an issue with that.
Only cause for that would be a bent pressure lever or housing as far as I know.
Can't recall any real issues with th press roller unless he's leaving off the spring?

I have once when the molding in the frame that guides the bushing for the cleaning roller. That end of the cleaning roller move forward and down allowing the end of the pressure roller to move down just enough that it no longer aligns with the hot roller. The only solution is to replace the lower frame. Either that or a new fusing unit or machine. I recommend a new machine.

I've seen exactly what you're talking about.
There is a newer style of lower press roller bearings PN AE03-0053, which has a slight groove around the outside center which is held in place when the lower arm is set with the tension spring.
And I think every 2022 / 2027 type of fuser we service, has broken out the plastic frame securing the upper roller. We use a trimmed ring securing bearing, as discussed.
