If you select "Erase All Mem.", the following are also deleted: user codes, counters under each user code, user stamps, printer fonts downloaded by users, applications using Embedded Software Architecture, SSL server certificates, and the machine's network settings.

after erase when you reboot you also get the option to set admin and supervisor password

i always do this on a used machine give you a fresh start

But does it clear Service Lock or set Network Security back to 0?

If the admin and supervisor user password been changed and you can't get into service mode you will need new nvram to reset passwords is in factory service mode then sp5846 46#

Did you check to see if Service Lock was turned ON? If it is not showing, check to see if admin has all the Administrator rights. If admin has rights to the Network Security setting. If it is 0 or 1, anything changed at a higher setting might not show. If you change to a higher level you may have to cycle power before it takes effect.

I did check and Service Lock showed and was not turned on.

i would run erase all memory
Login as admin got to settings-administrator-page 4-erase all memory
if the erase is greyed out go to extended features and uninstall any programmes (you can leave java)
then reboot and log back in as admin then erase all memory should be available (select 1 pass should do it in the quickest time can still take a couple of hours to complete)

Coincidentally, I just ran across what seems to be the same (or at least very similar) situation with an IM350 that I picked up for re-sale.
What I didn't realize about 'erase all memory' is that while you can pause it, it will automatically begin again at reboot... and how long it takes to complete - even though you clearly stated that in your post.
So once you start it, you're committed

I was intending to try a few other things before this, in order to resolve it in another way, but like I said, I was committed.

Having said all that, once it completed, SP mode was accessible.

I'm not sure if Copyaction has tried this idea yet on his unit, but it can't hurt.

Side note: It's quite remarkable how often I'll read about something here, and very soon after, have the exact same issue

How long it will take depends on whether the Data Overwrite Security Unit is installed and enabled. If it is then it should have deleted all copy and print jobs after they finished.
