all three codes are flashing up on the top of the screen. swapped both HD with seconds hand ones and am still getting the same roblem. machines takes ages to get ready and sumtimes when it does some of the features are missing like the duplex options and the finisher. so far av just unplugged the first hard drive and the machine starts up fine but with some features missing. thanks in advance for any advice.

These need to be changed as a hard drive pack, everything in the metal "cage,"you can't change the hard drives individually. At least that's what Ricoh told me and it didn't work on the only occasion when I tried it.
Try a pack from another machine if you have one lying around, otherwise you may have to order a new pack at huge expense.
The lack of HDD would account for all of the issues, including the duplex etc -
You can use non OEM drives as long as they are identical.Comment

Sometimes, you can unplug just one. and the machine will work to about 80%. Its nice to know, if the machine is otherwise down. But I agree with all, change both drives.Comment
