    Ricoh 3025

Hello all, this is my first post.

    I have a problem with a Ricoh 3025.
It is connected to a network and can be printed to, but the machine cannot sync up with my network. It worked for a short time then stopped and I am unable to figure out why.

When I go into the admin options and access the address book I find my scan profile. Then I go to folders and try to map my way to a network drive but the machine will not go.

Is there some other setting that may be blocking the machine from out putting files, Or any other suggestions you may have for me.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    James

Are you scanning to a server or to a stand-alone PC? Scanning to servers can sometimes be difficult.

Scanning to a server. It's odd because it worked for a little bit then just stopped. I'm hoping that someone switched a setting but I'm guessing it wont be that simple.

        network problem

When you say it can be printed to but wont sync with your network, what exactly do you mean. Also are you trying to print or scan or both, can you browse or ping the machine, is your machine on the same ip address range as the copier, there are many possible causes for this - you'll need to be more specific.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

          Jamesk,

When you say it scanned for a while and then stopped working it leads me to believe that either settings were changed or the folder you were scanning to has been moved/renamed/deleted. Just an idea...

The machine can print and scan among other things and it can be printed to by mapping the ip address. When I go into the folder in my scan profile I cannot connect to the network to map myself to the correct folder.

              1. Go back to the address book, copy (control + c) the path, then Start>Run and Paste (control + v) into the run box. The target folder should be displayed. Make sure it is the correct folder or if it cannot be found, find it and correct the path.

              2. Turn off any firewalls and try it again.

That was my first thought, I know the folder is there. I was able to set up another machine a 3235 and scan to the folder.

Do you know of a setting that could be changed that would block the 3025 from finding my network?

I'm sorry if I'm being a bit vague here I've never done this type of work before.

Instead of browsing to a folder, have you tried inputting the SMB path instead? It'll be along the lines of \\IPaddress\foldername\subfolder eg \\192.168.16.2\scans\jamesk. I'd use the IP address rather than the server name in case the DNS is a bit squiffy.

Once you've inputted the path, username and password, try pressing "connection test" and see whether it succeeds or fails.

If it succeeds, the connection is there, whereas failure means either a duff username, password or path. If it's the latter, try inputting the path into the run box of a PC on the network and see whether it opens the folder. If it doesn't then it isn't shared or the permissions are wrong on it. If it does, double-check that the permissions on the folder's share are set for everyone, including the username which you inputted on the copier.

Finally, are you trying to scan to a server? If so, or if it's a PC for that matter, what operating system is it running?

Edit: obviously I can't type quickly enough, sorry for the repetition!

Could be a firewall, antivirus program, or incorrect authentication info., or not a member of the correct workgroup/domain. First try turning off firewalls/A.V. programs first. If it still does not work, I like to try to work backward from the machine using the browse network function. It will ask you for the network path as well as the username and password when you try this, so if you don't have the right password or network path it will not work.

or not a member of the correct workgroup/domain.
All must be in the same workgroup or domain.

                        lost connection

i agree with llama abou t inputting the path manually. If that fails, start from scratch, create a new shared folder on your pc with all the relevant permissions set, input the username/password and path manually at the machine and see if you have a connection, allow your folder to be accessed by the user. Keep things simple, call your user 'scan' your password '5can' and call your folder scans, that way you'll remember every thing.

ps please check that pc/server are on the same domain or ip range as the copier
