    Copytech22:

    I agree with you that the manuals fail to provide a straightforward explanation of vsp/vsg and the importance of their relationship to one other in the copy process.

    I have been equally frustrated when I am involved with troubleshooting a copy quality problem or attempting to get to the cause of a recurring service code that is related to either of these voltage readings. In many cases the possible cause outlined in the manual will make reference to vsg/vsp but fails to clearly define the relationship and why the service code is being generated.

    It's almost as if some the information in the manuals is written for the engineers who design the systems - a more simplified and detailed explanation for the technician in the field would be much more useful for practical troubleshooting purposes.

      VSG = Voltage Substrate Ground

      VSP = Voltage Substrate Patch

      I have one of those memories where I remember crap like this.
      It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

        On the Tessa-Support website you can find the Core Technology Manual which explains the basics op copying and lists all abbreviations.

          The core tech manual lists VSG as the ID sensor output when checking the erased surface of the drum, and VSP as the ID sensor output when checking the ID sensor pattern image. It does not specifically give a definition for the abbreviations.
          Don't take that toner with me!
