Well Ricoh Australia National Tech Support came through.

Printer SP 1001-001 bit 7 set to 0.

this fixed it as the bit was indeed set to 1 . I have asked for a better explanation of what that bit switch is but havent had a reply.

    Customer happy now.

Thanks for all the ideas and help.

but that doesnt explain the same border when printed from my laptop connected directly to the printer isolating their network and drivers.

issue was fixed with a printer SP bit switch.

Found the bit switch description in the service manual.

It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

Next question...which Numpty changed that bit switch at run up?
Coz in the run up guide the only Printer dip switch we touch is 1-001-005.

well there is the question isnt it... My guess is they didnt change the SP switch number ,thought they had and set the bit. interesting thing is on a IMC2000 in the office that bit switch is set to 00000000 , where as the one i had was set to 10110000 . so now i am wondering what bits 4 and 5 do? will have to look for the manual.

printer seems to work fine now and customer isnt complaining of any issues.
