    2045 - SC990 and 991's

During copying and/or printing it crashes with sc990 or 991. The firmware are bin files and there is no remote firmware. Can the Mcericoh demo software be used with a standard pcmcia card to up load to the m/c or would it be highly reccommended to use the ricoh pn A2309350 or N8036701?

Is it more likely that the hdd is fizzled? If replacing the hdd I cant find the standard sp codes to format, copy the address book or transfer the stamp data in the sm; dont know whether sp5832-001, sp5646-002 or sp5846 are needed.... Any ideas are appreciated.

Before you do all that look and see if you have bare areas at the edges of your drum. The charge roller can arc to those areas and give you all sorts of fits. Codes too.

I agree that you would want to start with a pcu rebuild at min., I would actually go ahead and replace the dv at the same time.

Disconnect the HD, it will run but wont duplex. If it doesnt code out, replace the HD

SC 990 is a Software error, Disconnect HDD, if machine comes to ready you know the HDD has crashed.
Most of the time the operators need fixing, not the machine !!!

                SC 990/991

These SC's are actually process control errors. The manual states that that they are software errors. If you look at the logs You usually get a line that says someting like Pro_con err B.or something similiar. As the other guys have said.Do a full PM and all will be sweet.

99% of the time 990/991's on that model come from worn out drum. If it has > 150K, it's toast.

A good way to tell is when the 990/1's occur. If it happens during a copy run, it is most likely software, but if it occurs after a copy run, it is probably the drum, as this is when the ID sensor patch is developed and checked.
