Ricoh Pro 907EX - Faded copies and prints throughout the day.

    Hi folks,

I've got a Ricoh Pro 907EX here in our office that starts printing faded pages if it gets heavy use but returns to normal the next day. I've tried my hand at searching for a solution but haven't been able to find any good leads.

Is this something that can be fixed, or at least mitigated, without needing to perform a major service? This printer only needs to make it a few more months so I'm hoping to avoid spending money on a service technician if at all possible.

    Hi

If I had a dollar for everytime a customer said the machine only needs to last a few more months...

    Anyway
    These are possibilities
    1) Major service. (and yes I read your post) When was the last time you had a major service done (how prints /copies since then) This is important to determining if you need to replace parts. This is the most likely possibility
    2) Minor service. Important for determining if everything is clean and getting the correct readings
    3) Developer
    4) Drum
    5) Toner hopper

Start with those. And get a professional to assess the machine is the best advice I can give you

Haha this is one of the rare cases of it actually only needing to last a few months, the department is moving and they're getting a new machine in the new location.

We had a Ricoh technician replace the fuser web roll about a month ago. I wasn't with the company at the time, but I believe the hope at the time was that it would fix the fading issue.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, I figured the answer would be to bring someone in but I wanted to make sure that there wasn't something simple that I was missing.

Fuser Web roller will not help your problem. At all.

And I've heard the "we moving to a new office and getting a new machine" excuse so often.... I've got customers that are moving for the past 4 years.... Lol.. Anyway

Most likely your drum and or developer is needing replacement. I would say manually toner the machine up every 50 prints / copies till you replace the machine. You can do this by entering the Service Mode. Should SP2207

You can Google it if you want more info on that

And again let me reiterate that getting an Engineer out would be the best idea

You are getting toner fade, toner is being used faster that it is being restored. The next morning it runs runs process control and automatically adjusts the toner level. Check the settings of SP 2969, SP 2210, SP 2506 and SP 2507. These determine whether ID sensor patterns are ran during the day and if so, how often. Most likely all are OFF.

Turning on SP2507 has made me look like a hero. Thank you so much for this.
