Ricoh P800, No smart panel model

    Hey all,

    New member, first post.

I am working on a Ricoh P800 (non smart panel version) that on the recommendation of a Ricoh express tech, I had to replace the IPU. I removed the eeprom from the old one and put it on the new one and now I'm getting an SC195 error (Machine serial number error) and because of the very limited SP mode menu, I can't access SP5811 to input the serial number.

This issue was way above the helpdesk tech's skills and he kicked it up to the engineers. That was over 2 weeks ago. In the meantime, the owners of the machine are pissed that they have to use a crappy loaner and not the almost new P800 that they paid for.

    My question is this:

Is there any way to get this crappy Kyocera rebranded POS to display more options in SP mode or I am stuck until the engineers get back to me?

Don’t get discouraged by the lack of responses so far.

Saturdays are typically very slow on CTN.

Things do tend to pick up a bit on Sundays, then back to full bore on Mondays.

I mention this because this is your first post.

    Welcome to CTN, btw!

Sorry I didn't reply this morning but I needed to download the service manual and was busy with a few other projects.

Did the Ricoh express tech have you to backup the NVRam first?

I'm not totally clear on what you're saying. I only have one of these units on the field, but I've just looked through the manual and it states that SP5-811 is there and the over-all menu isn't 'very limited' as you've said. It's actually quite thorough.
Once accessed, I believe you have the option to select Service or Engine. Most SP's are under the engine section
So are you saying that you can't access SP mode, or that specific SP is not listed?
I do know the process to enter SP mode if that's what you're looking for?

According to the service manual, if exists. -002 is the displayed Serial Number and -004 is the IPU Serial Number. I have a feeling that since the error most like does not mention the dash number, it doesn't in the SC listing for SC995, he is expecting it to be -001. Which does not exist unless in Factory Mode. and I don't think he need to be touching anything in Factory Mode.

After thought: Considering that the P800 is a the Printer version of the IM 550, it is not the Sp mode that is limited, it is the display screen that is limited. only 2 display lines, and those printers are a pain to scroll through the SP table so he probably did merely search 5-811-001.
