Faded print on on side, Savin MPC 305...

Hey guys... have a weird problem with faded image on one side of the documents printed. At first, I thought it might have been dirty optics, but it is coming from internal prints as well. The machine has only 60K on it, but I took out the black drum and did not see any immediate issues with it. Checked the Transfer Belt and the Roller, and they look OK. I didn't see any way to clean the laser for the black drum, so not sure if that's causing any issues (but I doubt it).

Could the black drum have just failed over time?

    Attached a printout for reference.

    Thanks in advance!

Definitely looks like either a dirty K laser shield glass or a dirty K doctor blade.

Toner contamination and dust in the Laser unit , Cleaning the Laser unit will definitely improve the overall copy quality issue.

        Thanks for the replies!

That laser system looks difficult to get into, and I was looking for some kind of tool in the machine to clean it with, but didn't find one.
Also, the office is not very dusty. Could it get that dirty in only 60K?

No, its not difficult to take out the laser unit, taking off a single Cover and few special screws and FFC cables , these are compact units but toner dusting beasts.

          Hope this helps.

If you are getting a lot of toner hazing inside the C305.

Tell us, how can a machine that was introduced in May 2012 and replaced by the C401 in April 2014 with a target market of 2K to 5K month have only 60K? It should have reached that in only 1 to 2.5 years. If it came with a shield glass cleaning wand, it apparently been lost over the years. One form another color machine should work.

Looks like two things are going on.

Hot roller worn making the two lines and laser glass is dirty causing issue on the side of print.

              Good luck
              Dave

Thanks for all that.. yes, I realize the machine is older (I don't normally work on Ricohs, Slimslob), but this is a tiny church and - believe it or not - they only use it as a copier and not even a printer. So, how or why it only has 60K I do not know or care. But that's what the printout says.

I watched a video online about how to remove the lasers and clean them, but I looked and did not even see a slot where the laser glass could be cleaned (on one side) with a tool externally. But like most Ricohs, if they dust a lot of toner, that would explain how it got dirty like that.
