    Aficio 2045e Scan to folder

    Hi to all,

The machine always show connection to pc fail, I check all the setting i dont see any wrong. But i notes the SMB protocol from the machine is NetBEUI+TCP/IP. I try to change to NeTBIOS over TCP/IP but i cant. Any one kwons how to change it. I understand that scan to folder work only with NeTBIOS.

    Thank you in advance...

Are you trying to scan to a device on a network controlled by a Windows 2003 server or later? If so, you need special firmware from Ricoh to get the machine to be able to scan to folder.

Properties of TCP/IP>Advanced>Wins Tab>check "enable Netbios over ...etc.

Also smb user name and pw for the computer the folder is stored on with admin privileges need to be entered. and folder needs to be shared with full control.

Make sure you have no firewalls blocking your scan.

I'm probably just adding to the confusion, but we have a Ricoh 2045 that was set up by a professional when it was installed. He set up scan folders that work just fine. I am trying to add a second folder on to a computer that already has a working folder but the Ricoh just will not see this folder on the network.

It is visible on the windows network at every other work station, and as far as I can tell it is exactly the same (all users/permissions/etc) as the folder that is working, but the Ricoh can't see it. By this I mean that when I try the "Enter Destination" option in the scanner function, I can Browse the network. The network shows this computer and asks for a password to browse it. I provide the password, but it will only show the folder that is working, no other shared folders.

Is there some magic setting that needs to be configured on the folder to make it work? It seems that Ricoh just can't see the folders, not that the computers aren't communicating.

Sounds like a permission issue. Right click on the folder, choose the security tab and make sure that "everyone" has "full control"

Very strange. All permissions were set fine as I said. But I got it to work by manually entering the path under the "Enter destination" ability for the scanner function. Even though it was not visible when browsing the network (and still isn't), when I typed it in and used the userid/password for the workstation, (and the PC connection worked fine) it was able to send to that folder.

I then set that up as a scan destination by pressing the "ProgDest" soft button that appears to the top right of the destination box (when a destination has been manually entered). I set this up as a new user name.

This should have been the same as just setting up a new address in administrator mode, but I could not get that to work. It would always fail to send when I used the address set up in administrator mode.

Sorry if I hijacked this thread, but try the "Enter Destination" function to browse your network, and manually entering your destinations, see if that gives you any help.

Turn off packet signing on the server.

                    Instructions are here: Packet Signing.pdf

Oh, check with the network administrator first, blah blah blah

just turn off the firewall.... or maybe you have other anti virus installed that wont allow the connection...
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

                        Hi all

I had the same issue with a 2045e and XP several years ago. The problem was only resolved when I used a password from an account on the pc that also had admin rights. users, powerusers etc did not work. I had the admin set up an account on the pc with admin rights and it scanned fine from that point on.

Anti Virus software could cause this problem

Anti Virus software could cause this problem.
If you want to find out wheather the anti virus software cause this problem. just simply open up the log of that software and check. it tells block from certain IP address tried to access the PC. and that IP address is one for your copier....
Well, solution for that just make permition for it to goes through.
                            good luck.
