Hello has anyone any documentation on setting up ricoh mfp's on installation regarding printer and scanning set up. I repair and service most of the ricoh range but never set up the connectivity side of the mfp's. Nothing too fancy, just info on basic set up to start off with from installing drivers on a pc or server and sharing a printer on a network. Also how to set up scanning, creating folders etc....I would like to be able to push a mfp into a new customer, ask the rite questions and set it up to print. Any walkthrough guides would come in handy. Never had to do this before but I just started with a new employer and i'd like to do at the very least a basic print set up. Thanks and regards for any advice given.

Just fill in the model and search for operating instructions. Every model has a few manuals (Network Guide, Scanner Reference, Printer Reference, Copy Reference etc). -
I don't recall which thread it's on, but someone posted a few really good network install PDF's that go over installing the newer machines for scanning, etc. I believe they are from Ricoh.
There are some specific scanning issues with regards to Server 2003 and also with Vista. When setting up scanning, you want to make the folders first on the machines, and preferably in the root directory, so c\scans or something. When you go into the web interface of the machine and set up all of the scanning, it's easier than to browse three or four folders deep, and you can just create a shortcut for them on their desktop.
Printing is pretty straightforward, and there are some good Ricoh docs for that.
If you can, I recommend messing with this stuff on your office network first. You'll be able to see the variations with the machines, although they are better now then even a few years ago. SMB scanning has made things A LOT easier.Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Comptia A+, Comptia Network+Comment
