    MP C407 bypass lock symbol

This is going to drive me to drink tonight! Can't get rid of the lock symbol for the bypass tray on a C407. I believe you do that by choosing "yes" for "apply auto paper select" in tray settings but the option to do that is missing for the bypass tray. It is an option for trays one and two and the lock symbol appears and disappears when I turn "apply auto paper select" off or on. It doesn't show up in the WIM either for bypass tray.

I've tried too many things to list, to no avail. Any help much appreciated. I'll probably drink anyway, fixed or not...thanks.

For paper trays 1-3, The lock icon is displayed next to the paper tray if [No] is selected in "Apply Auto Paper Select". It indicates that the tray is not eligible for auto select. Auto select for the bypass may not be available if a paper tray unit PB1080 is installed.

Thanks slimslob, it does have the extra drawer. I'll remove that and see if that helps and post back.

Re: MP C407 bypass lock symbol

I did a check on a MP C307 with no extra paper tray and there was no option to allow the bypass to be automatically selected.
        The option is conspicuously missing.

I unfortunately did not have a 407 that didn't have extra paper trays but I don't think there is a difference between the two in this regard.
The manual also doesn't seem to say anything in particular about "Auto Paper select".

Funnily enough there is a bit switch setting to allow the bypass tray to switch to a different eligible paper tray should the bypass run out of paper.
When you'd ever run into a situation like that I don't know.

Thanks for your input RicohBoomer, you're right, it just isn't an option. I did try what you suggested slimslob, but no help.

Just got another of these machines in and it is the same...no choice for auto paper select. Also scoured manuals, including the operator's manual(sometimes they do help!) but found nothing.

          Now I know...thanks again.
