Yes newer firmware is available. As an example for System the version is B2135931S and yours it's a F release. To upgrade it it's really simple...you need just an SD card formatted in your computer. You must have a folder named romdata with a subfolder B264 ex: romdata\B264\firmware file.
Insert the card in the service slot and power on the machine.

On the left side of the machine, where network port is located (controller) you will see a metallic cover secured with 2 screws. Under the cover are 3 slots.
German is the default language on the user interface or in Service mode also.
It's a setup (jumpers controlled) on the controller to change the default language for Service mode. I must check the manual to see if the give the jumper config.
Firmware can not be downloaded from the regular websites.
If you are a tech working for a dealer you can request a user name and a password calling Ricoh Dealer Support line.
Send me your email address and I'll try to send you the files (are pretty big...all of them together).

You don't need firmware to scan to folder. Make sure the machine has write permissions to the (shared) folder, and let the machine login with the correct credentials. Switch on File and Printer Sharing in the Windows Firewall.

If the Network Support firmware is not at least 5.12.1 on this model, then SMB won't work on Vista and above. Windows now uses a newer SMB protocol starting with Vista and a firmware update is in order if not up to date.

You'll need to have a tech install it. It may not be the only one needed, you can hose things if certain ones are not installed in the correct order.
