MP 6002 Aficio - How do I add custom scan settings?

Please pardon my ignorance but I've tried to do due diligence wrt reading the manuals and finding videos to set up this machine for my uses but I'm coming up short. What I want to do is create scan presets for the types of scans I do most often so I don't have to mash so many touch screen buttons to get the options set correctly. The scans I need to do often:
    A) Single page 8.5x11 b/w
    B) ADF double sided 8.5x11 b/w
    C) Small items like checks or receipts. These can be 8.5x11 by default but document size is set to auto by default and it always complains with small items so it's another menu I have to drop into to set this.
    D) Single page 8.5x14 b/w
    E) 8.5x11 color with higher resolution

Practically all of my scans are going to a network share so it would be great if the presets to could point to the share so I don't have to mash that button as well.

I found, somewhere in my travels through the menus, a "preset" for the main screen for scanning small items. So, that is partially covered but how do I create more of these preset items to drop on the main screen?

It is covered in Registering Frequently Used Functions which can be found on the CD that came with the machine when new or using the online manual Aficio MP 6002/6002SP/7502/7502SP/9002/9002SP download page

Simply put, you use the Program key located above the 3 key. It is used to program key sequences for a function and later to recall them.

I did a little additional checking. In the online manual select the HTML. Then select Convenient Functions.

I clearly did not read the manual very well before coming here. Thank you for your help with the Ricoh jargon (terminology). I was able to get "programs" registered with "Functions" and put icons on the home screen and it's a beautiful thing.

Now, I have several more questions about this machine. Should I start new threads for different topics?

teaser: I've found that the energy saver mode on this machine draws about 20 watts which is quite a bit more than the ~4watts that the manual says. I think it's because there is a fan that runs about 98% of the time while in energy saver mode. During the brief moments when the fan spins down I do indeed measure just under 4 watts of power draw. I wouldn't necessarily mind the 20 watts except that the fan sound is annoying. I've cleaned the filters and have seen no change. Is this normal for these machines? Is there any thing that I can do?

Keep in mind you're dealing with an 11 year old series of machine. I'm willing to bet that the "Energy Save" feature isn't quite as efficient as something that's 2-4 years old.

Unless it's got functional issues, I wouldn't mess with it.

If it ain't broke...don't break it.

Just my 29 1/2 cents after taxes.

I would expect an 11 year old fan to be the quietest, either.

Check to see if the drum and/or tray heater(s) are connected. If they are connected but not really needed they could be causing heat build up and kicking on the exhaust fans.

I'm struggling to find how to check/disconnect those cables. I read in another post by you that there are connectors in the back of the paper tray bays but how do I get to them?

UPDATE: I found CN103 and CN104 and they do not have connectors plugged in. So, it seems that tray and drum heaters are not the culprit.

The fans do not sound like they are failing. The particular fan that runs more or less constantly sounds like what I expect of a muffin fan of that size. What makes it worse is that every so many minutes, they will spin down for a few seconds (to a minute) and then back up.

They are plugged into the main power supply. There is an excellent in the service manual. "Connecting the Drum Heater Connector and the Tray Heater Connector." Remove the lower rear cover and you can see them.

They may not be failing but the filters may be partially blocked with dust or toner. If they are it will make the fans have to work harder and pull more current. The dust filters and ozone filter should be changed every 300K.

                      Would NOT expect.

                      Sorry for the typo.
