SMB scan on older copier MPC3300 / Savin C3333

I've got an older Savin C3333 (Ricoh MPC3300) that can't scan to folder. I've done all the usual things.

user for copier is set up as admin (local user)
    Folder shared properly
    SMB enabled in windows settings
File and Print sharing set up correctly (I think)
File and printer sharing in defender enabled for ALL options both in and out
Turned off Malware bytes to test

Error in log is "SMBC: failed to connect (03201:0x2100002"
I have gone through about everything I know to make this work. Is there anyone out there still using these older machines that make them work reliably?

    Thanks!

Updated Firmware is a must for sure, but I'm not sure that old box is even SMB compatible on Windows 10 or beyond after that (I don't have the documentation to confirm either way).
If not, it's scan to FTP or Email, but note, that the mahcine doesn't support encrypted email connections (again due to age), so you'll have to use a workaround like SMTP2go or Stunnel

Free Firmware update tool is available on the Downloads page at Ricoh

It just might be too old to support SMB v2/v3. I could be wrong but I believe SMB v2/v3 require the GW+ controller which wasn't introduced until the CXX03 models.

Your available options are scan to document server and download it through WIM. Or scan to a memory device, may have a device size limit. Look in the Service Manual to see where the USB2.0/SD Slot Type A connects.

You can use an "old" Windows 2000 or Windows 7 computer as a scan server in your network and then retrieve your scans from there with Windows 10/11 computers.

Update firmware using RFUT first , enable SMB V1.0 server on PC, log in using user with password, file must be share with read and write permission.
I have few MPC 3300 still can do SMB on window 10 and 11

Re: SMB scan on older copier MPC3300 / Savin C3333

This model is too old to support SMB2 or 3. DO NOT enable SMB1 on any workstations or server without the permission of the client. It's a known security issue and will also be removed entirely from Windows at some point.

This model was released around 2008 so it's coming up on 16 years old. It may be time for at least a newer old upgrade.

Firmware is also up to date.

As a update to this, I did make it work on one of my computers by adding a bunch of features in windows. I had already enabled SMB 1.* stuff, so all SMB features were already on. Anything to do with TCP or networking are now turned on. And the copier now scans.

As a side note, I have been having problems making windows shares between computers to be reliable also. My router does not have a lot of settings, so I am not sure what could be wrong. I have windows firewall turned off on all computers in my network, and the only antivirus (other than defender) is Malwarebytes which does not have a firewall. Anyway, if you have further suggestions after reading this, please let me know. At this point, it has to be something in the local computers or network. I suspect that after the next windows update this computer will also fail to be scanned to.

                  Thanks Jim

If you turn SMB1 on with Windows 11, the next security update will most likely turn it back OFF.

SMB1 AND no firewall... You're just asking for trouble.

Firmware is as up to date as possible. They quit putting out updates quite some time ago. It's my own machine on my home network. Thanks!

Any idea how to set up FTP scan? I used to be able to do this using WSFTP, but the program changed so much I can't figure it out.

                          Thanks!

Anonymous FTP is not secure. Even FTP over TLS, FTPS and SFTP (Secure FTP) are easy to hack. As I posted previously
Your available options are scan to document server and download it through WIM. Or scan to a memory device, may have a device size limit. Look in the Service Manual to see where the USB2.0/SD Slot Type A connects.

Just as a heads up, should you decide to scan to the Document Server and pick the file up through WIM, that you would need the file format converter option.

That is a physical circuit board, not firmware or software.

In my 25+ years of working with Ricoh products, I think I have seen about 3 of them.
