MPW2400 dark band on copy or scanned image

Just thought I'd run this by the forum. Ricoh hasn't been much help.

The call came in for a 2" band about 4" from center on all copied and scanned images. Prints are perfect. Internal test prints are perfect. I replaced the CIS per Ricoh tech support (and my own logic) after updating firmware. With the new CIS I have a band about 5" wide starting 5" or 6" from the left side of the image. I'm going back tomarrow morning with the IPU, the scanner interface cable, and the original CIS. Any ideas? I'll report back tomarrow.

Sounds like you possibly got a bad/damaged CIS. If you are thinking might be a cable then try unplugging the video cable to the CIS and see if the defect changes each time you replug the cable.

By the defect changing after changing the CIS, I have to stand by my first thought. I would try unpluging/repluging the video cable to rule it as well though.

    Best of luck!

      problem solved

      Thanks for the input.

I solved my problem this morning. The black band I was experiencing was a symptom of a malfunctioning CIS element. Turns out one of the small connectors on the board attached to the element was loose. I reattached the connector and all's well.

      Thanks again.
