"Fresh" mean almost 3 months old... Look at the release date
Why they don't release only one bulletin for the entire world just Japan knows.
In that one posted by you tsc04 they present a toner supply dev unit and pcu from a 4000/5000 and the one posted now are photos from a 4500
There were 2 sets of Bulletins with the exactly the same content except for different pictures for the MP4500 and MP4000 units
The attached files you posted seem to be out of date when compared to the latest Ricoh (Manufacturer!) Bulletins which I have posted in the past.
The one you sent dated 05/01/09 seems to be a direct copy of a Ricoh Bulletin from a few months ago. I can't remember the number but can find and repost if required. Maybe the Bulletins take time to filter down through the group?
RICOH now say that with the latest toner (Marked "A" as per my last post) there is no need for a modified (coated) mag roller and no need for a modified dev unit with larger filters as supplied via Tech Support over the last few months. Since the toner is the same, the last bulletin I posted applies to both the MP4500 and MP4000 ranges.
I've not had the time (or inclination!) to really study the LATEST Bulletin yet, but suspect that with the new "A" toner, Ricoh are trying to set the new charge and bias closer to the original default settings in a effort to resore performance with regard to solids which tend to be very poor on machines with original dev units and modified bias settings.
I applied the latest TB on a few machines yesterday. Vacced all toner out of the PCU and hopper, cleaned the mag roller and undoing the SP edits and swapped the toner to the "new" type - no dev change btw. That's basicly the content of the latest RTB btw.....
Unfortunately the prints where still way too light after that prodecure so I needed to apply some manual "toner add" via SP and re-initialise the developer. Got a decent quality after that - let's hope it stays this way (yes, I'm not really convinced here )
I was PMed about this problem admin and the site owner was announced too. I think the problem was the copyright note at the bottom of every page. If you guys need them PM me.

Good info Jan,
I agree with you (Not convinced!). This is basically what they told us to do on the AF2045 when they had similar problems (De-tone and reset the dev)
We have a couple of machines now running with MODIFIED dev units, replaced dev,ORIGINAL toner and ORIGINAL bias settings.
Reports so far indicate that these are OK (About 20k copies?)
As I mentioned in a different thread I got decent results using mag rollers from 1035/45 dev units. Using the old toner and adjusting the sp modes I was able to stabilize the quality for ~80K. Of course the quality is not close to a 1045 but was a huge improvement compared with the factory released 4500.
For 4000/5000 the situation is different because we can not try a different mag roller...
All this week I helped coworkers in different territories and I was surprised to see some 5000's performing to well to be true. (with old toner). In conclusion in my personal the main issue is QC at the factory...We all know that over 80% of those machines/components are med in PRC even the label shows a different country of origin.
I have a word: "Made in a Friday in the night shift!"
I placed a rush order for the new type of toner and I will do a complete rebuilt on a 4500 next week. Everything new from the scratch: PCU, fuser, dev unit, developer, TONER and I will monitor it

We've had many problems of this origin and to date the only solution we've had is to go back to all the origional settings(in sp) clean the mag, vac out the pcud and use toner from a spurious company called PPC(look up online), the results have been good for 30, 40 and 80k !This is with customers that do more than the reccomended clix
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

Most of the customers kill these machines because the sales guy told them that will be able to print even on rocks...For a commission they will bend over and oversell.
I have a customer that prints over 100K a month on a 5000...I'm still pulling my hair and ask myself who was the guy who sold this machine...
You could always put in for a sales lead. A utax 1060/80 should do the trick, 500k guaranteed service intervals and Utax guarantee the drum for get this 4.8 million.... yes four point eight million. I recently serviced one with a maintenance kit on 522 k, it took me 45 mins - I swear, the whole lot is modular: fuser, transfer, m/c corona paper feed units the lot and not 1 service call since the day it went in.No wonder we move away from ricoh, can you imagine getting 522k out of an MP5500 or similar???

but these kyocera-based drum and stuff is indeed great technology
It's true I heard just good words about kyocera drums and their machines... I just discussed yesterday with a good friend who service kyocera, sharp and konica minolta. The negative side is the price for kyocera drums and other parts. It's true...700$ for a drum??
