    Pro 906 SC741

    Greetings, Earthlings.
Ricoh Pro 906 EX with Cover Interposer and SR5000 Finisher getting SC741
(Stapler Rotation Motor Error) constantly, did all the usual: reseat connectors, check sensors etc. Anybody seen this happen??
Most of the time the operators need fixing, not the machine !!!

try to test the board of the finisher... check also the finisher staple harness and the staple assy connector to the chassy...
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

I've seen a similar problem on an AF2090. It drove us mad because although the machine indicated a problem with the staple home position etc it was nothing to do with the staple drives.

      Boot the machine.

Watch the Finisher exit (shift) tray.

Does it run through the normal down / up / shift sequence?

Is it leaving the "home" position (Touching the black actuator?)

If one of the above is not happening remove the rear cover and during boot move the belt on the shift tray lift motor (Item 3 in attached diagram). Does it turn?.... Mind your fingers!!

Lower the shift tray using the sprung release gear. Does the tray lift on boot up?

If no, remove the belt and run the motor in test mode SP6113-005 (?)

      NEW MOTOR??

As I said, before I noticed this motor sticking we were swapping sensors all over the place trying to fix the fault! It WOULD run in test mode but sometimes may not move up, or down, in normal operation unless I touched the pulley.

The fault I saw was on "Hard on". Sometimes the machine would boot, but during a staple job the tray might move down to let the set out but not pulse up between sets. it would the show either an R7 jam or various codes.

Remember, even if this motor is not the problem, it may not be the staple drive causing the problem!!

OR.... Behind the staple head assembly there are 2 tension springs pulling on the unit. These can fall off and may prevent correct rotation of the unit. check the baseplate of the finisher and the staple "Chad" tray, you may find the spring!

        Almost forgot this one!!
