    SR3020 Booklet Finisher B804

The problem I am having with this dog is that when the lower (booklet) tray is full it wont reset. I understand that the number of booklets you can make is dependent on the number of sheets per and the size of the paper. It used to make 6 of the letter size, now it makes 3 and says "remove booklets from tray", so you do but it wont reset the message, you have to clear the job or reset the machine. I replaced the two photocells that are the full sensors and checked that the actuator is moving freely, but no-go. What the heck am I missing here?

I have heard somewhere - not sure where - that this is being looked at by Ricoh.
I think it is something about when the booklets are removed from the tray the machine locks up and you can get SC990.

I just set up a MPC6000 with a SR3020 today and verified the operation. I put in 15 sheets onto legal size, booklet staple, 50 copies. It went to 7 copies and displayed to take the copies out of the tray. I removed the booklets and the machine took off on its own.

Good thought on the FW, Fridge.
They have ver. D and Ricoh has a Ver H out, dated 1/09. I think that should be my next shot. Kinda funny, the firmware in the MPc4500/SR3020 is B804xxxx. The firmware in the MPc6000/SR3020 is D373xxxx. Strange, eh?

No so strange, the MPc6000 uses the 4020 booklet finisher not the 3020. Idiot!

Anyway I flashed the firmware today, including the finisher to level H. No change. I rechecked the tray to be sure it was sitting correctly. Using letter-r paper I keyed in 10 booklets using 10 sheets of paper. It made 3 sets and stopped displaying the message to empty the tray. I emptyed the tray and even removed the tray to let the lever drop all the way down and nothing nada. Pressing clearmodes reset the screen but when I pressed the booklet staple button, the message came back up, even tho I could make other copies, no more booklets. I had to turn the machine off and on to make more booklets. Tomorrow, the interface cable

I spoke to our Ricoh rep and he said that there is a problem with the booklet tray full and locking up - it was reported on a MPC5000 and they are expecting firmware later in the month.

Thanks for the heads up Henk.
                    2 questions: MB. Board replacement?
I see the engine firmware for the MPC4500 is now at 1.62.01 and the firmware for the finisher is unchanged. Still at H.
You are saying that the MPC engine firmware is taking care of the problem?
                    Which firmware is the 1.55.08?
Ok thats more than 2 questions.

                      Hi
Engine firmware for MPC5000 is ver:1.55.08
I dont think it has been published to us mere mortals yet - try asking your friendly Ricoh rep for it.

MPC4500 is my concern and the latest firmware is dated 5/9/09. Not exactly new but I will dl it and read the text.

Jumps from N to P. and says "minor bug corrections" Thats a big help.

As far as I know this firmware fix for the 990 when the tray is full is only available for the MPC4000/5000 (1.55.08) and MPC2800/3300 (1.54:09) - all unpublished as of now.
