adf not recognizing 8 1/2 x 11 r original. it will start to scan and stop in the same spot all the time. trays are set correctly for the same direction, 3 trays on this one set up to lanscape, portrait and legal and all correctly recognized. checked my sensors in sp mode for the dp and when i put the original in the letter r direction it recognizes 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 size all other directions in the dp are ok. swapped sensors around but no luck. checked user settings and sp modes for adjustments or resets but no luck.. i did find a reset for dp and performed the reset but no luck. any help appreciated. thanks t

Try cleaning the contact strips under the ADF side guides, if they are dirty on the edges you may find trouble only with certain widths of paper.

Also check the Relay Harness - Original Width Sensor and try to replace the 2 bottom plate sensors connected to this harness.
Another suggestion is related with this AW01 0074 Photosensor - PS-R50D1-B...Good luck
