A full coverage print with toner missing in a consistent ribbed pattern?

Check out the dev roller / doctor blade / unit.

So you have tried a completely different PCDU or have you only tried the same PCDU in a different MP4000?

                Hmmm that's pretty weird then.

As that pattern on your sample print is a dead ringer for how the surface of the dev roller looks.
I can't think of any other roller that would produce / leave a mark such as that one.

Generate the internal test pattern with dark black bands (can't remember the name of it) and see if the problem is still there. At least that will isolate the optics. Also make sure the white plate is clean on the scanner.

This may sound too simple....Are you saying that this ONLY shows up on sky shots? Or does it show up with the cover down and large solids? The reason I ask this is that you say it does not show on text. I have seen this Exact pattern on sky shots when there is a florescent lamp above the copier. I may be just talking out of my butt again.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.
