    Aficio 1075 SC955

I have one of this machines reporting sc955 very often, and the manual says it's software defective. Is there any other thing that could cause this condition? Thanks a lot

defective memory... 2 128MB sdram with incompatable brand.. or not same brand... or 1 128MB and 1 256 installed at the machine....
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

Yes most of the time is memory defective or because of the environment the contact between memory and board is not perfect. Take out memory modules and clean the contacts with iso alcohol. Next step will be a firmware upgrade. If no results...replace the memory.

I'll check the ram and see if there's something wrong with it.
One more thing, we have about six 1075 that after working for a couple of hours (2000 copies or less), they beggin working slowly, as if they were 30 copy/min machines. Any ideas on this issue (I think it must have something to do with memory too, but can't be sure since they don't throw any code att all)

Could be a HD. Disconnect the HD and see if it performs at the same rate.

The problem is that it doesn't happen all the time, sometimes they don't do it for several days. Besides, as far as I know (I use to work with KM machines) in this model no hd means no duplex, the users would kill me.

Thats true with Ricoh too. But its a good troubleshooting technique.
I think you are looking at a bad connection. Take the time to pull and reconnect all the connectors and interboard connectors on the controller. I cant tell you how many times this seemingly time consuming process has solved problems for me. Also it has proved fruitless in some cases. But when your back is against the wall and you're saying this has got to be a bad board, you gotta do the deed. Check all the connections. All the connections. Nothing worse than replacing the board, sending it in for repair and getting back a "no problem found" (but that'll be $xxx.xx anyway).
              My $0.02.
